While it is important to learn the principles and proper technique from a trained Pilates instructor, videos and DVDs are indispensable for continuing your practice at home. As with any fitness or exercise program, a once-a-week class or session with a trainer is not enough to bring you the complete benefits. This often results in loss of motivation as you fail to achieve maximum benefits.

Pilates videos are available for every level of fitness and experience. Be sure to read the video information carefully, ensure it was produced by a certified trainer and that it matches your current fitness level—not your goal level! Work your way up through the levels at the recommended pace and you will see the best results for your body and conditioning.

Romana Kryzanowska is the last living disciple of Joseph Pilates. Joseph Pilates left his studio—and his legacy as a trainer, teacher and innovator—to his student and colleague Romana Kryzanowska.
